Revengeance is a Dish Best Served Milolotold

See what I did there? It's a mish mash of mild, cool, hot, and cold. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has taken making sense and slashed it to teensy-weensy pieces, so why should I care if the title of this post is nonsensical? You're welcome.

Seriously though, Revengeance is looking alright by me, but you know, I'm a fan of fast-paced flashy action games with questionable story content. It's beginning to look a bit like what I had hoped Ninja Gaiden III would be, but fell laughably short at. Though the Metal Gear Solid games have normally woven complex storylines, I can't help but question Raiden's Platinum-powered spinoff. But fuck it, cutting concrete pillars and people in half in one stroke; like.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Dares You to Press Start

This is the title screen for upcoming Konami/Kojima/Platinum love child Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I've created posts for less.

While it tells us absoltely nothing about the upcoming slash-and-flash fest, Raiden is looking pretty good, which at the very least is what I expect from this mess. Revengeance (no definition) will be playable at E3, so expect some new details and trailers in the coming weeks.

    Anarchy Reigns Rains Teasers

Platinum Games and Sega have formed a formidable little alliance between themselves, releasing quality games like Mad World, Bayonetta, and Vanquish. Their latest, Anarchy Reigns, is more of the same; unique style and furious action. The two are taking this title into unfamiliar, yet almost mandatory territory, multiplayer story. Sorry, I just wanted to rhyme all that. Sounded awesome, didn't it? Say it again. Louder!

We've yet to see any of the multiplayer in action, but what we've seen of the game in motion thus far ooks promising. Announced late last week, Sega has already hit us with a total of 5 teasers; one overview, and four detailing each of the flavorful cast of characters that you'll be putting the beats on suckas with. For your convenience, I present you the character teasers bundled up into one explosive video.

Hope you enjoy chainsaws, jet hammers, katanas, and big ol' butts.

Sega and Platinum Games Announce Anarchy Reigns

Last year's news of Platinum Games working on a multiplayer title has finally resurfaced, now with more details! Anarchy Reigns is a brawler at heart, upping the ante of the experience by adding multiplayer support. It's said to offer a diverse range of game types, ranging from tag team battles to a full-on battle royale, where a mess of players beat the life out of each other.

Jack, protagonist of the awesome Wii exclusive Mad World, makes an appearance with chainsaw and all. He looks a little different in high def color, but it seems like he hasn't lost his penchant for brutality. Other characters appear to have some resemblances, such as the bull-headed fellow who draws some similarities to Mad World's Big Bull Crocker, and the female whose got an ass like Bayonetta. Fuck it, I'll just go ahead and say the Metal Gear Solid: Rising ninja character is Vanquish's Sam Gideon in a new suit. It's a Platinum Games reunion!

Anarchy Reigns is set for a Fall 2011 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

    REVIEW: Vanquish

Space marines, cover-based battle, and quick-time events are some of the most cliched ideas in the action genre. Vanquish attempts to build on the mundane by allowing you to spring out of cover and slide a hundred meters forward on your knees, while skillfully picking off your opposition with sniper rifle headshots, and at the end of your jet-propelled dash, breakdancing into an evasive roll, before dashing up a 30 foot tall robot, to punch his head off, clean. Sure it sounds good in theory, but can Vanquish pull it off in practice?

Platinum Games Working on a Multiplayer Title

Recent favorite of mine Platinum Games just teased their next project, a multiplayer game. I know this may not seem like much news, but think about it. Platinum has developed some of the truly fun and unique games of recent memory, such as MadWorld, Bayonetta, and the upcoming Vanquish, but they have never implemented multiplayer in any of their releases. That shows that unlike some other developers, Platinum Games is doing their duty to make the best single player experiences possible, without dividing their attention with a half-baked multiplayer throw-in.

In an interview with NowGamer, Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba states "We haven’t officially announced it yet, but we have a big multiplayer title that we’re working on right now. There are many different projects running internally, but please look out for the announcement."

Sweet. If the track record is worth anything, this multiplayer project is going to be an over-the-top, balls to the wall orgy of awesome. Even if it's just an online deathmatch version of Vanquish, count me in!
